  • Which Broker Is Better?

Picking a forex broker in 2026 is not just about who offers the lowest spread. It involves weighing account structure, platform options, instrument range, deposit conditions, and how well the overall offering matches your trading style.

Two brokers that consistently appear in comparisons for serious retail traders are TIOmarkets and IC Markets Global. Both operate raw spread accounts, both support MetaTrader, and both target active traders. But the differences between them are meaningful enough to influence which one is the better fit depending on what you need.

This comparison breaks down both brokers across the factors that matter most to traders and investors looking for a reliable, cost-effective home for their capital.

Account Structure and Fees

TIOmarkets offers four live account types: Standard, Raw, VIP Black, and Nano.

The Standard account has spreads from 1.1 pips with zero commission and a minimum deposit of $20. The Raw account offers spreads from 0.0 pips with a $6 commission per round turn lot and a $250 minimum deposit. The VIP Black account sits between the two: spreads from 0.3 pips, zero commission, and a $1,000 minimum deposit. The Nano account, available on MT5 only, has a minimum lot size of 0.001 lots and is designed for traders who want precise, small-scale position control.

On TIOmarkets’ commission-bearing accounts, the commission is charged in full when the position is opened and covers both the opening and the closing of the trade, so there are no surprise charges at exit.

IC Markets Global is built primarily around its Raw Spread account, which offers spreads from 0.0 pips on forex. The broker positions this as its flagship offering. Forex leverage runs up to 1:1000 on this account, considerably higher than most brokers in the market. IC Markets Global accepts deposits in 10 major currencies, which gives it a broad reach for traders operating outside USD.

For traders who want to compare like for like, both brokers offer raw spread conditions at the premium tier. TIOmarkets additionally offers a zero-commission account at the VIP Black level and a simplified no-commission entry point with the Standard account, giving more flexibility across different trading styles and capital levels.

Leverage

Leverage is one area where IC Markets Global makes a strong statement. Forex leverage up to 1:1000 is available on its Raw Spread account, which is among the higher figures offered by any regulated broker globally. Commodities also offer up to 1:1000, while indices sit at up to 1:200 and stocks at up to 1:20.

TIOmarkets offers leverage up to 1:500 on request across Raw, VIP Black, and Nano accounts. The Standard account on MT5 goes further with an unlimited leverage feature, which uses a dynamic margin structure scaling with account equity. At lower equity levels, margin requirements are minimal. As equity grows, required margin increases through defined tiers. There are weekend and news event restrictions on the unlimited leverage feature, and it is not compatible with automated trading.

For traders who specifically need leverage above 1:500, IC Markets Global’s 1:1000 cap provides more headroom on forex and commodity positions. For traders operating at more moderate leverage levels, both brokers are functionally comparable.

Platforms

This is the sharpest point of differentiation between the two brokers.

TIOmarkets offers MT4 and MT5 across its Standard, Raw, and VIP Black accounts. Both platforms are available on desktop, web, and mobile. MT4 provides nine timeframes, 30 built-in indicators, and four pending order types. MT5 expands this significantly with 21 timeframes, 38 indicators, six order types, three fill policies, a built-in economic calendar, and multi-threaded strategy testing with real tick data. Expert Advisor execution is supported on desktop versions of both platforms.

IC Markets Global offers MT4, MT5, cTrader, and TradingView. This is a broader platform roster than TIOmarkets provides. cTrader is particularly well regarded among algorithmic traders and scalpers for its depth of market functionality, one-click trading, and native support for cBots (automated strategies written in C#). TradingView integration allows traders to execute directly from TradingView charts, which has become increasingly popular for traders who use TradingView as their primary analysis environment.

IC Markets Global has also added MT4 enhancements including a one-click trade module, market depth, spread monitor, trade risk calculator, and advanced order types. These additions go beyond the standard MT4 installation.

For traders committed to the MetaTrader ecosystem, TIOmarkets offers a clean, well-structured experience across MT4 and MT5. For traders who want platform optionality, particularly cTrader or native TradingView execution, IC Markets Global provides more choices.

Instrument Range

Both brokers cover the major asset classes, but IC Markets Global offers a broader selection in several categories.

TIOmarkets offers 70+ forex pairs, a range of major index CFDs, 170+ stock CFDs, 7 commodity CFDs, and 25+ crypto CFDs. The instrument range covers the most actively traded markets but is more curated than IC Markets Global’s offering.

IC Markets Global lists 61 forex pairs, 25 indices, 20+ commodities including spot and futures, 2,100+ stock CFDs across ASX, Nasdaq, NYSE, and European exchanges, 9+ bond CFDs, 21 crypto CFDs, and futures CFDs. The stock CFD count at 2,100+ is substantially larger than TIOmarkets’ 170+, and the inclusion of bonds and futures CFDs adds categories that TIOmarkets does not offer.

For traders who focus on forex or a narrow set of instruments, this difference may not matter. For traders who want access to a wider equity universe, bonds, or futures from a single account, IC Markets Global covers more ground.

Deposits and Withdrawals

TIOmarkets supports five deposit methods: bank wire, debit and credit card, e-wallet (Skrill and Neteller), crypto-to-fiat (9 supported assets), and mobile money (available for KES and GHS). Deposit fees are zero when the minimum deposit amount is met. Withdrawal fees are zero for amounts of $20 or currency equivalent or more. A 14-day grace period allows traders to deposit and begin trading before completing full verification.

IC Markets Global accepts deposits in 10 major currencies across multiple payment methods. Client funds are held in segregated accounts at international banks.

Both brokers offer 24/7 customer support.

Automated Trading and Scalping

Both brokers explicitly permit scalping, hedging, and automated trading. This is not universal among retail brokers and is a meaningful point of alignment between the two.

On TIOmarkets, EA execution runs on the desktop versions of MT4 and MT5. Web and mobile versions support monitoring and manual order entry only.

IC Markets Global supports automated trading on MT4, MT5, and cTrader. The cTrader platform’s native cBots provide an additional automated trading environment that MT4 and MT5 do not replicate, which is a genuine advantage for traders who develop or use cTrader-based strategies.

Which Broker Is Better?

The honest answer is that it depends entirely on what you are optimising for.

IC Markets Global has the edge on platform variety (MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView), leverage ceiling (up to 1:1000), and instrument breadth (particularly stocks and bonds). For traders who use cTrader, need access to a large equity universe, or want TradingView-native execution, IC Markets Global is difficult to match.

TIOmarkets has the edge on account flexibility, with four account types covering entry-level traders at $20 all the way through to a zero-commission premium tier at $1,000. The Nano account’s 0.001 lot minimum is particularly suited to traders managing small positions with precision. The unlimited leverage feature on the Standard account, while coming with restrictions, is a structural differentiator not available at IC Markets Global.

For personal finance-oriented investors building their first trading account or exploring CFD markets for the first time, TIOmarkets’ $20 minimum and zero-commission Standard account offer a genuinely low-friction starting point. For experienced traders with more capital who want the widest possible platform and instrument range, IC Markets Global’s offering is harder to argue with.

Running the numbers on your actual lot size, trading frequency, and platform preference will point toward the right choice more reliably than any headline comparison.
