How many times have you wondered what you could do to live better?
The focal point of that post was that happiness, in addition to being a kind of higher goal
towards which all the various goals you move towards converge, as well as being an intrinsic aspect of every goal towards which you strive – in a nutshell, you set a goal
feeling that its realisation will make you happy for a longer or shorter period -it is, above all, an aspect immanent to every goal you strive for.
How To Live Better? Start With Yourself!
The first five pieces of advice I want to give you relate to yourself and your inner world, click here to know more about mental health.
They are not arranged in order of importance, although, indeed, the first one is
a kind of axiom around which everything else revolves.
- Know yourself and learn to distinguish yourself from others. The teaching “Know thyself,” a warning as old as the world or almost, is a fundamental starting point in many areas. If you don’t know who you are or what you need, it is difficult to identify what you can do to live better.
- Replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts. As coaching teaches, which you know is an action-oriented method, when your thoughts seem to be blocking you, when you find yourself bogged down by a decision that you cannot make, the only thing that really helps is to silence the dissonant inner voices that pull you back and forth a little and take action. In a word, do little by little, practice modulating your inner dialogue, trying to replace negative thoughts with positive ones when they come forward in your head. In what way? When a thought torments you, seek shelter in what can make you feel better, whether songs, places, or people. And replace that thought with a positive one.
- Learn to scale back obstacles. Living better does not mean having a life all downhill. Obstacles can happen, and it is human to see them even when there are none. When you find yourself stuck, stop and think about how that obstacle is unattainable. Obstacles, for the most part, are contingencies; try to imagine them as something you can work on and change. And, if you cannot do it on your own, ask for help. In this regard, Lateral Thinking can be helpful. When you keep bumping up against the same problem, try to problem, try to solve it by seeking different points of view, unusual to the ways of thinking you are used to.
- Take care of your soul and your body in equal measure. Another outdated but still relevant, especially when discussing how to live better, is that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. The translation of thought is so exploited that it is sometimes trivialized and has lost mordant. But its truthfulness remains. Both the soul and the body need to be trained. Just as you feed yourself to keep yourself upright, you try to do it the best way. You train to keep yourself in shape; the mind also needs to be the right way so that it grows and stimulates its appetite on a daily basis and be trained to exploit its potential for learning and reasoning potential.
- Don’t be afraid of defeat. If reaching a goal gives satisfaction, never forget how much there is to learn from defeat. Please don’t be ashamed of it, don’t fear them. They will temper your character and exponentially increase the emotions associated with achieving a goal. First of all, failure is not the end of the world. A failure helps to give the right weight to things, motivates you to look at situations from new perspectives, sharpens your audacity, and matures your spirit to be able to cope with possible new failures.
Moreover, most importantly, whether you reach your goal or not, obstacles and defeats will give you an image of yourself that you will never know in quiet moments and from which you will learn how strong you can be.
