The 2022 David Frank Memorial Golf Classic: An Introduction by Mike Straumietis

Mike Straumietis, CEO and Founder of Advanced Nutrients, has a partnership with the Jewish National Fund-USA (JNF-USA), the leading philanthropic organization for Israel. JNF-USA supports several important environmental and nation-building activities in Israel. The organization recently announced that record funds were raised at the yearly L.A. Golf Classic, now called the David Frank Memorial Golf Classic, a golf tournament presented by Advanced Nutrients.
This year’s successful tournament was held last August 1 at the well-known Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades. It was the seventh straight year for the event. This year, it was hosted in memory of David Frank. Frank was a very active part of the Los Angeles Jewish community and a distinguished member of the organization’s National and Greater Los Angeles Boards of Directors for over three decades.
Gracing the David Frank Memorial Golf Classic was Lt. Col. (Res.) Tiran Attia, the founder of the JNF-USA’s Special in Uniform program. Attia was also the event’s guest speaker.
The JNF-USA’s Special in Uniform program has provided people with disabilities a place in the IDF and the honor and opportunity to serve their country. After undergoing and completing basic training, the IDF evaluates each candidate’s skillset and assigns them to a branch of service that aligns most with their strengths.
Because of the unwavering support of JNF-USA’s partners and donors, including Los Angeles entrepreneur and philanthropist Mike Straumietis, the Founder and CEO of Advanced Nutrients, the tournament’s title sponsor, the Special in Uniform program has incorporated more than 500 people with disabilities into the IDF – and there are still more than 200 potential candidates on the waiting list.
Mike Straumietis, on his recent trip to Israel, visited one of the Special in Uniform army bases and was moved by what he witnessed. He has always dreamed of helping others achieve what may seem impossible and has always championed inclusivity.
According to Mike Straumietis, the JNF-USA’s mission is tremendously close to his heart, and he finds it extremely meaningful to have Advanced Nutrients as a sponsor for this great annual golf tourney for the second year in a row. He also mentions that he knows first-hand the kind of people and projects his funding and effort will support and how very grateful he is that he can help young adults succeed in the future.
Proceeds from the David Frank Memorial Golf Classic will go to the JNF-USA’s One Billion Dollar Roadmap for the Next Decade program, which has raised more than $941 million to support critical environmental and nation-building activities in both the Negev and Galilee regions of Israel.
This year’s tournament winners included Keith West, Jeremy Canter, Ryan Lynch, and Harris Siskind. Runners-up included Michael Rosenmayer, Tyson Parsons, Ben Posen, and JNF-USA Greater LA Board Member & Event Co-Chair Joe Rosen.
The 2023 David Frank Memorial Golf Classic will occur on July 31, 2023, at the Riviera.
